When is the Next ICC World Cup?

The ICC World Cup tournament of ODI cricket just ended last July 14 but cricket fans are already talking about the next one. Team England got their first Cricket World Cup trophy this year when they defeated New Zealand in the finals round. The team won because they have more boundaries than New Zealand. Otherwise, the match resulted in a draw of 241 runs and 15 more from the Super Over.

There will actually be two World Cups in cricket next year. Both of them will be played in T20I cricket format. The first one is the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup tournament. It takes place from February 21 until March 8. Incidentally, the finals of the women’s ICC World Cup tournament will also be held on International Women’s Day. The previous tournament was in 2018 and Australia won.

Ten teams will play in the tournament. Two of these teams are the winners from this year’s qualifying tournament while the eight teams are:

• Australia

• England

• India

• New Zealand

• Pakistan

• South Africa

• Sri Lanka

• West Indies

On the other hand, the Men’s ICC World Cup will in the latter part of 2020. The tournament will start on October 18 and will continue until November 15. The previous men’s ICC World Cup in T20I cricket was in 2016. West Indies won the tournament.

Sixteen teams will play in the tournament. Ten teams are already qualified for the tournament while the six remaining teams will still have to be chosen from this year’s qualifying tournament. The ten qualified teams are:

• Australia

• Pakistan

• India

• England

• South Africa

• New Zealand

• West Indies

• Afghanistan

• Sri Lanka

• Bangladesh
